RICHARD SHER BIOGRAPHY

With more than 51 years in radio and television, Richard Sher continues to shine as moderator of Square Off, the longest-running public affairs show in Maryland. A few unique highlights from his half-century of broadcasting and entertaining: Richard emceed the last Beatles show at RFK stadium in 1966, witnessed Maryland’s first lethal injection execution, helped negotiate the release of a hostage, was called by police to come talk a possible jumper off a hospital roof, and was Oprah Winfrey’s first and only talk show co-host. For nearly six years, up until Oprah moved to Chicago, Richard and Oprah co-hosted People Are Talking, a daily one-hour talk show.
